The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts released a report on July 1, stating that most parts of Europe are experiencing widespread high temperatures. Western Europe has experienced two rounds of heat waves, which have led to increased fire risk, school closures, and health alerts. The development has prompted the authorities to implement measures to mitigate the impact of the extreme heat. According to data from the World Meteorological Organization's Regional Climate Centre Network of Regional Association VI (Europe), more than two-thirds of the extreme heat weather in Europe since 1950 has occurred since 2000.
