A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Friday that a prolonged Ukraine crisis serves no one's interest.
Noting that China is not a party to the Ukraine issue, Mao Ning said China's position on the Ukraine crisis is objective and consistent, which is "negotiation, ceasefire and peace," in response to a media inquiry.
China supports a political settlement to the crisis as early as possible, Mao said.
Together with the international community and in light of the will of the parties concerned, China will continue playing a constructive role toward this end, Mao added.
