In Kaohsiung, the Gangshan Beef Noodles restaurant, located near a military dependents' village, opened in 1962. Now, the business has been passed down to the second-generation successor, Liu Yijun. The gates of the military dependents’ village beside the restaurant are locked now. No one knows what the future holds for it. The "military dependents' villages" were communities where retired soldiers settled.
