CFA Team China Shenyang Peace Cup International Tournament 2025: China beat Uzbekistan 2-1

China's U16 men's football team secured a 2-1 victory over Uzbekistan on Sunday in the second round of the CFA Team China Shenyang Peace Cup International Tournament 2025 in Shenyang.

Just two minutes in, He Sifan's cross from the left found Kuang Zhaolei, who tapped in to give China an early lead. China nearly doubled their advantage when Wang Feiniya earned and took a penalty, but his Panenka-style attempt was saved by the Uzbek goalkeeper. China did not go into the break with a lead, as Uzbekistan managed to equalize during first-half stoppage time with a header.

Both sides played more intensely in the second half but lacked the final touch. The breakthrough came in the 88th minute when China converted a corner rebound, with Zhou Yunuo delivering a long-range winner in the dying moments. Following their earlier 1-1 draw with Japan, the Chinese team now sit second in the standings. 

Earlier in the day, South Korea defeated Japan 2-1 to stay at the top of the table. China will meet South Korea on Tuesday in the championship match.
