Events were held across China to mark the 88th anniversary of its nationwide resistance against Japanese aggression, which began on July 7, 1937, to pay tribute to martyrs and honor the compatriots who lost their lives.

A new exhibition, "For National Liberation and World Peace," opens in Beijing on July 8 to mark the 80th anniversary of China's victory.

Spanning 12,000 square meters, it features 1,525 photos and 3,237 artifacts, chronicling the Chinese people's 14-year tenacious resistance and their monumental contributions to victory.
