The 17th BRICS Summit concluded on July 7 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. CGTN has invited young people from BRICS countries to share their views on the cooperation of the mechanism. Earlier this year, on January 6, 2025, Brazil, the 2025 rotating chair of BRICS, announced that the group officially accepted Indonesia as its latest full member. This made Indonesia the first Southeast Asian country to officially join BRICS as a full member.
Celia Annetta, an Indonesian international student studying at Tsinghua University, said that joining BRICS has brought more investment and new markets to Indonesia and provided support for the modernization of infrastructure and agriculture, among others. As a young Indonesian, Annetta hopes that the BRICS countries will focus on cooperation in areas such as sustainable development, digital technology and green energy in the future. Indonesia is rich in natural resources, she noted, adding that cooperation with other BRICS countries can help the country find more sustainable ways to utilize these resources and benefit everyone.
