China's Zhang Shuai and Marcelo Arevalo of El Salvador defeated Desirae Krawczyk of the U.S. and Brit Neal Skupski 7-5, 7-6(7) in the mixed doubles quarterfinals at Wimbledon on Monday.

Krawczyk and Skupski have won Wimbledon twice, in 2021 and 2022, and they also beat Zhang and Arevalo in the quarterfinals at last year's French Open.

After both sides held their serve across the first 11 games, Zhang and Arevalo delivered a love game in the 12th to break their opponents and claim the first set. Then in the second, the Chinese- Salvadorian pair broke the two-time champions first again for a 4-1 advantage.

However, Krawczyk and Skupski soon fought back and dragged the competition into a tiebreak. Zhang and Arevalo wasted two match points in the decisive game, but managed to seal the deal 9-7 and booked their place in the semifinals. They will play Joe Salisbury and Luisa Stefani on Tuesday for a place in the final.
