No matter how many "exercises" the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities conduct, it cannot change the inevitable failure of "Taiwan independence," a Chinese mainland spokesperson said on Wednesday.

Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, made the remarks at a press conference in response to a media query on Taiwan's recent "Han Kuang 41 exercise."

In order to incite cross-Straits confrontation, the DPP authorities have constantly escalated tensions in the Taiwan Straits, attempting to "seek independence through forces," Chen said, adding that this will only further undermine peace and stability in the region and ruin the safety and well-being of the people of Taiwan.

Stressing that "Taiwan independence" is a dead end, and China's unification cannot be stopped, he said the "exercises" by the DPP authorities cannot change the inevitable failure of "Taiwan independence" or stop the inevitable historical trend of the reunification of the motherland, he said.
