Taiwan region leader Lai Ching-te recently kicked off the so-called "10 Lectures on Unity" campaign, which has sparked widespread controversy. Public opinion holds that Lai deliberately exaggerated Taiwan's economic achievements while avoiding the real challenges faced by ordinary people.
CGTN Stringer took to the streets of Taipei to gather local opinions. A resident surnamed Liu said that Taiwan authorities seem not to care much about the economic issues facing young people today.
"The economic pressure is indeed quite significant. Housing prices are rising, and rents are increasing. Even if we only pay rent, it's a bit hard to survive."
