China's Zhang Shuai and Marcelo Arevalo couldn't get past Joe Salisbury and Luisa Stefani, failing to advance to the mixed doubles final at Wimbledon on Tuesday. This was the second time China's Zhang had played in a Wimbledon semifinal. This opener needed a tiebreak and despite Zhang and Arevalo leading at one point, Salisbury leveled for his side and they went on to win the frame.

Zhang and her Salvadorian teammate Arevalo lost three points in a row in the second before they eventually succumbed to the loss in straight sets. The UK's Sailsbury and Brazil's Stefani advanced to the title contest, where Katerina Siniakova and Sem Verbeek await.

"This Wimbledon journey is really perfect." said Zhang, "I played the first round match in the singles after qualifications, and advanced to third round in the women's doubles. Our mixed doubles team reached the semi-finals following the French Open. We are very happy with the result and for me, I don't have any regrets, saying goodbye to the court. We have tried our best and this Wimbledon competition has been wonderful."
