Ningbo in east China's Zhejiang Province is breathing new life into its ancient moat system, a historical landmark that has evolved from a military defense to a vibrant urban space. As the city embraces urban renewal and ecological improvements, the moat is becoming a hub for community life, especially during the summer months.  

Dating back over a thousand years to the Tang Dynasty, Ningbo's moat uniquely encircles only half the city, with natural rivers flowing around the other half of the city. Today, the moat is a testament to the city's continual development.
