How does China train doctors for its most remote areas? A 30-year partnership between a top city university and a regional vocational health school offers one example. Since 1995, Chongqing Medical University has sent over 300 professors to teach at Liangshan Health School in Xichang, and welcomed more than 1,500 students and teachers from Liangshan to train in Chongqing. The program has produced 2,283 graduates – over 70 percent of whom now serve in Liangshan's healthcare system. The two institutions recently renewed their agreement to continue the collaboration.
