Scholar's take: China's auto industry still holds advantages to expand into overseas markets

01:23

In the third episode of CGTN's Chinese Factories Know How series, we visit carmakers in Anhui Province alongside Xu Haidong, deputy chief engineer of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), who joined the trip to observe and reflect on the current state of the industry.

Xu noted that while rising tariffs may reshape the global trade landscape, Chinese automakers still hold strong advantages developed over years of domestic competition—particularly in supply chains, R&D, and talent pools. These strengths, he said, enable Chinese automakers to expand into key overseas markets through local production, thereby achieving sustainable development and deeper integration into the global community.
