China's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 5.3 percent year on year in the first half of 2025, reaching approximately 66.05 trillion yuan (about $9.24 trillion), according to data released by China's National Bureau of Statistics on Tuesday.
The country's industrial output rose 6.4 percent year on year in the January-June period, reflecting continued momentum in manufacturing and production.
Per capita disposable income reached 21,840 yuan, up 5.3 percent in nominal terms and 5.4 percent in real terms. Rural residents saw faster income growth than their urban counterparts, with real income for rural residents up 6.2 percent, compared to 4.7 percent for urban residents.
