Organizers on Monday of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics have released a first look at the competition schedule, which highlighted a significant reshuffling of key events.

The announcement came as the city marked three years to go until the opening ceremony, which will take place on July 14th, 2028 and will be split between the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. The closing ceremony is scheduled for July 30th at the Coliseum.

In a notable departure from tradition, the Los Angels Olympics will swap the usual order of athletics and swimming. Track and field events will open the Games during the first week, with swimming moving to the second week. The first champion will be crowned at Venice Beach after the triathlon, while the marathon will still close out events on the final weekend.

Day 15 is expected to be the busiest for medal events, with 16 team and 19 individual finals taking place. Organizers said the schedule will continue to be refined, with a more detailed breakdown set to be released later this year.
