Team China announce flag bearers for 2025 Universiade opening ceremony

Badminton player Cui Hechen and women's 3x3 basketball player Liu Bei have been selected as the flag bearers for the Chinese delegation at the opening ceremony of the 2025 International University Sports Federation (FISU) Summer World University Games that will begin on Wednesday in Rhine-Ruhr and Berlin, Germany.

Both Cui and Liu will make their Universiade debuts in Germany. Cui is from the Hunan Normal University and Liu is from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Both are looking forward to making their country proud at the University Games.

"I'm really excited to be the flag bearer of the Chinese delegation because I know it might be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," Cui said. "I'm so grateful to represent my country on the stage. I believe I will grow up stronger through the experience of being the flag bearer. And I also want to get acquaintance with college students around the world and make more friends."

"This is my first time competing at the World University Games, and I'm excited to be China's flag bearer," Liu said. "Beside representing myself, I will also represent my country and other college student on the stage, and I will show the good spirit of Chinese youth. My goal is winning the gold medal for my country."

The 2025 University Games will take place from July 16 to 27. Chinese athletes will participate in 90 events across 14 sports.
