Editor's Note: Ties between China and Nauru have deepened since the restoration of diplomatic relations in January 2024, with a focus on disaster prevention, education, and cultural exchange. In this edition of Leaders Talk, CMG's Zou Yun sat down with Nauruan President David Adeang in his ancestral hometown in Guangdong Province during his early July 2025 visit, a deeply personal journey to reconnect with his roots. President Adeang shared his experience of rediscovering his Chinese heritage, including a visit to his great-grandfather's hometown, offering a heartfelt reflection on the intersections of family, identity, and international partnership. He also explored the growing relationship between China and Nauru. And he reflected on World War II history and the recent establishment of a Remembrance Day to honor those affected.
