China's He Yanwei and Lu Wei claimed the first gold of the World University Games in Germany, after winning the women's 10-meter synchronized platform title in Berlin on Thursday.
He, who is a student at Beijing Sport University, earned gold in the women's team diving event at China's 14th National Games, while Lu, who represents Chengdu Sport University, claimed the women's 10-meter synchronized platform title alongside teammate Zhang Jiaqi at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships.
The Chinese pair took the lead after their first dive, and picked up 80.64 points on their fourth attempt, which marked the highest score in the final. He and Lu led by 35.58 points after their fifth effort, and clinched the gold with a total of 330.18 points. Germany settled for silver while the USA bagged bronze.

Pan collects women's individual Poomsae bronze for China's first medal at competition
In taekwondo, Pan Meijing from Hunan Sports Vocational College performed well in the women's individual Poomsae final in Essen, and clinched bronze with 8.383 points, to give China its first medal at this year's World University Games.
As taekwondo's form of exercise discipline, Poomsae is evaluated on precision, fluidity, expressiveness, and power control.
Pan later made her second trip to the podium on the first full day of action after teaming up with Wu Weikang to share bronze in the mixed doubles event.

China earn silver in swimming pool in women's 4×100m freestyle relay
In swimming, China's Liu Shuhan, Ge Chutong, Yu Liyan, and Ai Xianhan earned silver in the women's 4×100m freestyle relay in Berlin. Ai delivered an outstanding performance in the final leg, helping China finish the race in a time of 3 minutes, 38.70 seconds. The USA claimed gold, while Italy ended up with bronze.

China beat Mongolia 21-9 and defeat Hungary 21-14 in women's 3×3 basketball
In women's 3×3 basketball, China dominated their opening contest against Mongolia in Bochum. The Chinese ladies got into a groove quickly, and put together an impressive performance on both offense and defense, en route to a 21-9 victory. They then secured their second straight win after defeating Hungary 21-14.
