Business of beauty: Villager empowers women on path to brighter future

Six years ago, she was a stay-at-home mother with no income, never imagining she would one day become a business owner. Today, she not only runs her own hair salon but has also mentored over 20 apprentices, empowering them to rewrite their own life stories. In 2017, with the support of the Women's Federation of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Buayxam Abdureyim, a villager from Qianjin Village in Naiderbagh Town, Kashi City, seized an opportunity that changed her life. Through the local Beauty Hair Salon program, she was given the chance to learn beauty therapy and hairdressing free of charge. A year later, she opened the first beauty hair salon studio in her village, offering apprenticeships and creating employment opportunities for local women. As her business flourished, her vision grew even bigger – she aimed to train more apprentices and introduce even more beauty services to the women in her village.
