Over the past 50 years, China and the EU have developed into vital economic partners, achieving remarkable progress in bilateral trade and economic relations. China was the 3rd largest market for EU exports and the largest source for EU imports in 2024, with two-way goods trade reaching $785.8 billion.
The investment flows between China and the EU have continued to grow, with Chinese accumulated investment in EU countries totaling 185 billion euros, and the EU's accumulated investment in China reaching 184 billion euros, according to the European Commission. Notably, mutual investments have expanded from traditional manufacturing to high tech and emerging sectors, particularly in new energy vehicle, digital economy and green technologies.
