Chinese badminton players capture three championships at Japan Open

China's Shi Yuqi won the men's singles title at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Japan Open in Tokyo on Sunday. His compatriots Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning triumphed in the women's doubles final, while Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin came away with mixed doubles gold.

Facing defending champion Alex Lanier of France in the final, Shi seized control with the first game knotted at 17-17, reeling off four straight points to claim the frame 21-17. The World No. 3 then wrapped up the second 21-15 to secure the title.

Liu and Tan also enjoyed a trip to the top of the women's doubles podium, after defeating Malaysia's Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan 21-15, 21-14 to capture the crown.

Jiang and Wei outlasted Thailand's Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran in a 62-minute thriller, taking the mixed doubles final 21-19, 16-21, 21-15.

South Korea's World No. 1 An Se-young continued her remarkable season, overpowering China's Wang Zhiyi 21-12, 21-10 in just 42 minutes to capture her sixth title from seven BWF World Tour events this year.

The men's doubles title went to South Korea's Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae, who swept past Malaysia's Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin 21-16, 21-17.
