Lee Hsien Loong: Multilateral cooperation should 'move forward' regardless of whether the U.S. 'turns back'

01:25

At the 69th Dinner of the Economic Society of Singapore, Singaporean politician and former military officer Lee Hsien Loong described the global trading system as operating in a state of "the world temporarily minus one." He was referring to the U.S. withdrawal from multilateralism. He pointed out that the U.S. still needs to engage in economic and trade exchanges with the world and needs various resources, such as rare earths, from other countries. He also urged countries to adapt to the situation through diversification, regional partnerships and reform of global trade rules, without relying on U.S. participation.
