Before the dawn: The tragedy of Serbia

06:13

During World War II, Serbia, which was then a part of Yugoslavia, lost around half a million people, which was a huge number for a population of just over 5 million at the time. Those years were marked by the brutality of German, Bulgarian, and Hungarian occupiers, as well as the indiscriminate air bombardments of Serbian cities by the U.S. allies. Scars from those times still run deep in the nation's memory. CGTN's Aljoša Milenković has more from the Serbian towns of Kragujevac and Belgrade.
