Heavy fighting broke out on the Cambodia–Thailand border early on July 24, leaving at least eleven civilians dead, two of whom children. According to local sources, BM-21 rockets struck a gas station in Thailand’s Sisaket province, causing explosions and multiple casualties as fighting erupted between Cambodian and Thai troops. Over 40,000 people were evacuated as both sides blame each other for the sudden clash.
