China is deeply concerned about the current development of the border clash between Thailand and Cambodia, and hopes that the two sides will properly resolve the issue through dialogue and consultation, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a daily news briefing on Thursday.
Guo made the remarks when answering a relevant question. Thailand and Cambodia are both friendly neighbors of China and important members of ASEAN, Guo said, adding that good neighborliness and friendship and proper handling of differences are in the fundamental and long-term interests of both sides.
Based on the common interests and demands of regional countries, China adheres to a fair and just position, and has and will continue to act accordingly to persuade and promote talks, and play a constructive role in promoting the cooling down of the tension.
