Dong Yuanfu, a painted pottery inheritor in Turpan, Xinjiang, has dedicated over three decades to an inseparable bond with the millennia-old art of painted pottery. From his childhood hobby of molding clay toys, he has pursued this passion. He scales mountains to gather soil, shapes forms, and paints designs, engaging in a dialogue with a civilization from three millennia ago at the potter's wheel. Confronting the impact of industrialization and the risk of losing his craft, he started teaching villagers in training classes. He paints with clay and forges the soul with fire, safeguarding this cultural heritage.
