In Zhejiang province, China, a group of retired fishermen — with an average age over 60 — are employing a new method to protect the ocean they know so well. Once dependent on the sea for their livelihood, they have come together through a marine waste recycling initiative. Gathering at collection stations known as "Little Blue House," they have managed to help collect and process a whopping 16,000 tons of marine waste in their spare time. These "Little Blue House" scattered along the coastline, now serve as a protective barrier against ocean waste coming ashore, one that successfully incorporates fishermen into ocean conservation efforts.
