Troops from Thailand and Cambodia on Thursday exchanged fire at a disputed portion of their border, with both sides accusing each other of firing the first shot.
The clash occurred a day after Thailand recalled its ambassador to Cambodia, following a landmine explosion that injured a Thai soldier along the border.
Thailand's military ordered the closure of all border checkpoints.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on Thursday called on the people to stay calm and trust the government and armed forces.
