The streets of Yushu, Qinghai Province came alive on July 24 with the vibrant "Dashing Khampa People" cultural parade – an annual showcase of national-level Tibetan intangible cultural heritage. Nearly 2,500 performers from Yushu and Nagqu in Xizang Autonomous Region took part in the grand event.
The parade featured eight main elements: horseback skills, traditional dance, local traditional costumes, Tibetan opera, folk sports and more, offering a rich display of Khampa Tibetan traditions. Yushu – located at the source of the Yangtze, Yellow, and Lancang rivers – has long been a cultural crossroads. In 2017, it was designated a Tibetan cultural ecological protection experimental zone, reinforcing its role in preserving and promoting Tibetan heritage.
