China officially launched the "China-EU Young Scientists Exchange Program" in Beijing on Friday, a flagship initiative commemorating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the European Union. The program aims to strengthen scientific collaboration and mutual trust by facilitating exchanges between young researchers from both regions.

The launch ceremony, organized by China's Ministry of Science and Technology in collaboration with the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and other institutions, brought together over 150 attendees, including senior Chinese officials, European diplomats and representatives from leading scientific organizations.

Yin Hejun, minister of science and technology, framed the program as a critical bridge-builder. "On this significant 50-year milestone, this initiative will construct bridges of trust, cooperation and friendship between China and Europe," he stated. "It will enhance strategic mutual trust, unleash collaborative potential and solidify the foundation of our scientific partnership."

Yin urged young scientists to "take on responsibilities and set examples in advancing scientific progress for China, Europe and the world, jointly creating a sustainable future."

The program is spearheaded by the Science and Technology Ministry. Implementation partners include CAS, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the China Association for Science and Technology, along with local institutions. Its core objective is to support European young scientists conducting research exchanges within Chinese universities, research institutes and technology enterprises.
