The Chinese Embassy in Japan on Friday lodged solemn representations and strong protests with Japan over a recent visit by a "foreign affairs" official of China's Taiwan region to the country.
The Japanese government disregarded China's repeated demarches and insisted on allowing Lin Chia-lung, the head of the "foreign affairs department" of the Taiwan region, to enter the country and engage in provocative activities promoting "Taiwan independence" in Japan, said Shi Yong, minister of the Chinese Embassy in Japan, to Masaki Kanai, director-general of the Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
China will never tolerate this, said Shi.
China demands that the Japanese government abide by the spirit of the four political documents between China and Japan and honor its solemn commitments on the Taiwan question, he added.
The Taiwan question is at the very core of China's core interests, and the one-China principle is an inviolable red line that brooks no political manipulation, said Shi.
