The Lao military clarified on Saturday that there was no exchange of fire between Lao and Cambodian troops and that the Lao side did not detain any armed Cambodian personnel for illegal border crossing, denying earlier media reports.
The Lao military confirmed to China Media Group that reports of a clash between Lao forces and Cambodian armed personnel earlier in the day were false. Additionally, Lao People's Army News stated that it had not received any related notifications about the clash.
Maly Socheata, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense of Cambodia, on Saturday also said that such incident never occurred.
Earlier in the day, Thai news outlet Thairath reported that the Lao military had issued an emergency notice, claiming intense clashes with several armed Cambodian individuals who had illegally crossed into Lao territory, resulting in the arrest of 10 people and the seizure of weapons.
