Hepatitis B is an infection of the liver caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV). It can lead to liver cancer and is a significant global health concern. According to the World Health Organization, there were 254 million people living with chronic hepatitis B infection in 2022, with 1.2 million new infections each year.

To prevent contracting hepatitis B, it's essential to understand how the virus is transmitted. HBV can spread through birth, blood products, and sexual intercourse, said Mao Yilei, a professor from the Peking Union Medical College Hospital in Beijing. Watch the video to learn more.
