Fresh clashes rocked the Thailand-Cambodia border early on Saturday. Gunfire could be heard as villagers fled explosions and hid in bunkers at a border checkpoint in Surin Province, Thailand. One villager told CGTN they had taken shelter in a bunker, crowded with more than 30 people, for four days and three nights. Some families have fled their homes and are now staying in local schools and temples that have been converted into emergency shelters.
The border has been effectively sealed off, cutting off vital supplies for thousands. Aid groups warn that the prolonged clashes are making it increasingly difficult to deliver food and medical assistance to those in need.
