Another Chinese scholar conducting research in the United States was unreasonably detained by U.S. law enforcement authorities recently. Commenting on this, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun said Monday that such actions seriously violate the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese students and scholars, and ultimately damage the U.S.' own image. He also said that China will firmly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese students and scholars overseas.
