Philippines hit by multiple tropical cyclones: 31 dead, over 6 million affected

The Philippines has been severely impacted by a series of tropical cyclones, with 31 people reported dead and seven others missing, a Philippine government agency said on Monday.

Under the combined influence of Typhoon Wepa, Francisco and Co-May, as well as the southwest monsoon and other weather systems, as of 6 a.m. on Monday morning, a total of 31 people had died, 17 were injured and seven were missing, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

It reported that more than 1.75 million families, or over 6.27 million people, were affected nationwide.

The NDRRMC said the country's agriculture had suffered a loss of over 790 million pesos (roughly $13.8 million), while damages to infrastructure exceeded over 6.5 billion pesos (roughly $113.8 million).

A total of 192 cities and municipalities have declared a state of calamity, said the agency.
