The largest exhibition of renowned Russian painter Ilya Repin's work opened at the National Museum of China last week. Organized jointly by the National Museum of China and the State Tretyakov Gallery of Russia, the exhibition showcases some 92 oil paintings and sketches, including many iconic works from the Russian gallery's permanent collection. As a highlight of the China-Russia Years of Culture, the exhibition aims to promote cultural exchanges between the two countries. It marks the largest and highest-profile showcase of the Russian master's works ever held overseas.
