Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has concluded a three-day official visit to the United States, where he said both sides would continue to advance military cooperation. Marcos stated that the modernization of the Philippine military is a direct response to developments in the South China Sea. He added that the deployment of U.S. intermediate-range missiles and the joint construction of ammunition depots in the Philippines are intended to prepare for possible future contingencies. The Chinese Foreign Ministry has responded.
