Shanghai Land Group defeated Guangdong Pioneer 3-1 on the final day of the men's second stage at the Chinese Table Tennis Super League in Xiamen, southeast China's Fujian Province, on Monday.
Xu paired with Zhou Kai to cruise past Wang Yang and Ao Hualei in straight games in the first doubles contest, giving Shanghai a 1-0 lead. That advantage was soon wiped by Zhou Yu who beat Zhao Zihao 3-0 in the singles match to level the battle 1-1 for Guangdong.
Xu plays in the second singles match against Ao for their first meeting. Both clinched two games for a decider. Xu trailed 5-1 but then came back to take the fifth game 11-6 for Shanghai to lead again.
In the third singles competition, Zhao smashed Wang 3-0 to seal the deal he allowed only nine points by the opponent.

On the women's side, Shenzhen University defeated East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) 3-1, continuing to lead the table with five wins and one loss. Shenzhen sent two world champions, China's Kuai Man and Japan's Miu Hirano to play Zhang Xiangyu and Jin Mengyan in the first doubles match. Kuai and Hirano claimed the first two games both 12-10 and then ended it 11-6 in the third to put their side ahead 1-0.
ECUST pulled one back in the singles match as Liang Jiayi beat Qin Yuxuan 3-2 to level the competition. Kuai faced Jin in the next singles match and she left no chance for the opponent before clinching a 3-0 win, gaining the advantage again for Shenzhen.
The fourth match was between Hirano and Liang. The 25-year-old Japanese trailed 2-1 after the first three games, but then increased changes of her pace to take two straight games for a comeback win, ending the battle for another victory for Shenzhen.
