At least 43 people, including children, were killed on July 27 in a brutal overnight attack by Islamic State-backed rebels on a Catholic church in Komanda in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, local officials and the UN peacekeeping mission in the African country said. The attack was carried out by members of the Allied Democratic Force (ADF) at around 1 a.m., and several houses and shops were burned. Most of the deceased were Catholics preparing for a religious celebration. Many others are still missing. According to witnesses, the ADF also looted a local bank. CGTN's Stringer captured footage of the attack.
