Rwandan ambassador: China's Digital South Initiative boosts Africa's digital leap

China has proposed the creation of a global AI cooperation organization, an important move to practice multilateralism and promote global governance that features extensive consultation and joint contribution for shared benefit, and the world is responding. "Africa must invest in digital technology for leapfrog development," said Rwanda's ambassador to China. He praised China's Digital South Initiative, seen by China as a global public good, for supporting infrastructure, skills training and technology transfer across the African continent. He said Rwanda is now encouraging Chinese firms to invest in the local production of digital devices to empower its youth with AI tools.
