In our series "Resolve and Resilience: The Main Eastern Battlefield of WWII," we turn our attention to former Chahar Province in northern China. In 1933, before the full-scale outbreak of the War of Resistance, an anti-invasion force quietly emerged in Zhangjiakou, the capital of Chahar. Ordinary citizens, patriotic generals, and members of the Chinese Communist Party stood united, fighting fiercely to reclaim their homeland. This was the Chahar Resistance War, an early spark of national awakening.
