Over 3,000 participants recently gathered in Beijing for an event – themed "Together for Peace" – during which the multilingual World Youth Peace Initiative was launched, calling on young people to defend global peace, pioneer cultural exchanges and advocate for win-win cooperation.
To mark the 80th anniversary of victory in the World Anti-Fascist War, the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the All-China Youth Federation hosted the World Youth Peace Conference on July 29 at Peking University.
At the conference, issues like climate changes and "technologies for social good" were addressed.
"80 years ago, our predecessors illuminated darkness with unity. 80 years later, it is up to us – the youth – to define the future through action," reads an English translation of the new initiative's statement.
