Despite those efforts, girls in Afghanistan continue to face harsh realities when it comes to a variety of opportunities. But some women are laying the groundwork for a brighter future not only for themselves but for generations to come. Lema Malek is the founder of Ms. Malek, an online business based in Kabul. Her team consists of four girls, and most of their clients are women as well. Despite the ban on higher education for girls in Afghanistan, Lema believes that girls must not feel hopeless.
