The BWF (Badminton World Federation) Macao Open wrapped up with a resounding victory for China's Chen Yufei, who swept past Denmark's Line Christophersen in straight games to capture the women's singles title, her first at this event in nine years.
Despite the absence of many leading players from the Chinese mainland, who opted for rest after a busy stretch of tournaments, former Olympic champion Chen took center stage alongside a host of promising young talents.
The new generation's representatives struggled to find their footing, however, with the 27-year-old Chen emerging as China's last remaining participant in any category once the competition reached the semifinal stage.
In the final, Chen employed her trademark tactics of deceptive lifts and sudden bursts of speed to maintain dominion on the court. The World No. 5's strategic play enabled her to edge Christophersen 21-17, 21-17 to win the title.
This latest accolade marks Chen's fifth title of the season, adding to her impressive resume that includes victories at the Swiss Open, Badminton Asia Championships, Thailand Open, and Singapore Open.
