Deep in the vast Gobi Desert of Xinjiang, an energy relay network is taking shape.
The final stretch of the 750kV Tarim Basin Rim Power Grid, which spans from Hetian to Minfeng, Qiemo, and Ruoqiang, is undergoing rapid construction. This section cuts through the Kunlun Mountains, rugged desert hills, and the edge of the desert, making it one of the most challenging and complex parts of the entire project. Confronted with frequent sandstorms and undulating terrain, construction teams relentlessly advance through mountains and deserts, overcoming severe natural obstacles.
Once completed, the 750-kilovolt power grid will span around 1.08 million square kilometers, forming a closed loop that will provide southern Xinjiang with a more robust and stable power supply. The grid will pave the way for the region's energy transformation and contribute to its high-quality development.
