A protester with the Palestinian flag marches on the Sydney Harbour Bridge during a pro-Palestinian rally against Israel's actions and the ongoing food shortages in the Gaza Strip, in Sydney, Australia, August 3, 2025./ VCG
On August 3 local time in Sydney, Australia, tens of thousands of protesters braved the rain to join a pro-Palestine march, calling for an end to the ongoing conflict and famine in Gaza. Waving Palestinian flags and holding signs reading "Free Palestine" and "Cease Fire Now," demonstrators chanted slogans and marched north across the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge. Organizers had estimated around 50,000 participants.
Due to the large turnout, police began asking protesters to stop entering the bridge from 3 p.m.
A simultaneous rally in Melbourne also drew thousands of pro-Palestine demonstrators.
