The first main generator on China's second domestically-built large cruise ship, named "Adora Flora City," has been successfully powered up on Tuesday, marking a key milestone in its construction and signaling the start of the verification phase, China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) said.
The main generators are considered the "heart" of the vessel, providing power for its electrical devices and the propulsion system.

The "Adora Floral City" is equipped with five high-power generators, independently located in separate engine rooms for enhanced safety. Each generator has an output of 16.8 megawatts, a capacity comparable to the main engine of a 100,000-tonne cargo ship.
This vessel follows the successful launch of China's first large cruise ship, the "Adora Magic City," which began commercial operations in January 2024.
