In the middle and lower reaches of the Kumarak River in the Aksu region of Xinjiang, the Dashixia Water Control Project is quietly shaping the future of southern Xinjiang. The project features the world's highest concrete-faced sand-gravel dam, which stands at 247 meters tall – equivalent to an 80-story building.
Once completed, the project will provide an abundant water supply for southern Xinjiang, solve irrigation challenges, and ensure a reliable source of water for everyday use. It is also expected to play a key role in flood control and water resource management.
With water flowing and power secured, the fields and cities of southern Xinjiang can confidently step into the future.
