Jose Perurena, President of the International World Games Association (IWGA), spoke highly of Chengdu's preparations for the 12th World Games at a press conference held ahead of Thursday night's Opening Ceremony.

Perurena said Chengdu's preparations have exceeded all expectations, and the host city is ready for a history-making program.

Xu Xingguo, the 2025 Chengdu World Games Executive Committee's Executive Vice President and Secretary-General, believes the Opening Ceremony will highlight the core features of Chengdu's identity as a cultural hub and the significance of Bashu charm.

Chinese breaker Liu Qingyi, who earned a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, revealed that her primary goal remains to go all out and strive for peak performances, while continuing to push her limits on the floor.

The Chengdu World Games will feature 256 medal events in 60 disciplines across 34 sports, with nearly 4,000 athletes from 116 countries and regions set to compete from August 7th to 17th.
